The Fixed Assets Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the fixed asset and project accounting systems along with reconciling the period’s activity in the fixed asset system to the general ledger. This accountant will maintain internal controls, provide audit support and liaison with field operations for CapEx requests, capital expenditure approvals, asset setup, transfers, adjustments and disposals.

Responsibilities

(60%) Fixed Asset Accounting

Responsible for maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the fixed asset system (retirements, changes, additions) inclusive of timely closing of the fixed asset system as well as accurately recording depreciation each period

Prepare construction-in-progress and software-in-progress reporting each period ensuring costs are capitalized both timely and accurately through maintaining communication with our business partners and field operations

Prepare fixed asset team journal entries as assigned

Prepare fixed asset team account reconciliations and related reporting on a period basis

Prepare period end Balance Sheet/Income Statement fluctuations

Oversee tax assets (BlueFence accounting) as applicable

Review work order requests within the Corrigo system for capital/expense determination

Maintain appropriate internal controls, adhere to Company policy and procedures as well as ensure there are no significant deficiencies or material weaknesses, as defined by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002

(15%) Project Accounting

Reconcile the projects module on a period basis and provide reporting to all divisions (capital budget vs. actuals reporting)

Provide reporting to divisions upon request

(25%) Miscellaneous responsibilities

Act as liaison to field operations, communicating and receiving approval for capital expenditures

Provide support and documentation during audits

Support the Tax department regarding fixed asset requests

Forecast capital spending and depreciation during the budgeting process and as requested

Test the fixed asset system as well as any integrated systems prior to any system modification/upgrade

Unclaimed property accounting

Assist with special requests and projects

Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance

Minimum two years’ experience in Accounting or Finance preferred

Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

Knowledge and fluency with PC applications
