The Dahill Group is pleased to be assisting one of our highly respected clients in the oil & gas industry in search of the ideal candidate for this exceptional opportunity.
This position is responsible for surface land responsibilities associated with our client’s assets located in the Permian Basin and East Texas. These responsibilities include understanding title, ownership identification, obtaining survey permission and survey plats, negotiating surface and damage agreements, scheduling meetings with landowners and company personnel, and appropriately reacting to complex problems or issues that arise as the company pursues development opportunities.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *
The following represents the majority of the duties performed by the position, but is not meant to be all-inclusive:Coordinate all aspects of surface land and serve as a liaison between various in-house disciplines, field staff, landowners, tenants, County, and State regulatory agenciesSupport existing and ongoing horizontal development activities in the Permian and East Texas on Fee and Federal lands to ensure all locations proposed are timely Released to Build and rig ready prior to spud dates ensuring that surface use agreements, rights-of-way, easements, staking, surveying, etc. are in place and landowners properly compensatedNegotiate, interpret, draft, revise, and acquire land related contracts pertaining to surface use and real estate with landowners and ensure continued compliance therewithCommunicate with surface owners and with field operations personnel on an ongoing basis to address and resolve issues related to ongoing production activitiesConduct public records research to determine surface ownershipAppropriately staffing field brokers and surveyors to cost-effectively meet deadlinesApprove all surface invoices and continually find ways to lower survey and brokerage costsSupport preparation and compliance of permits issued and/or administered by regulatory agenciesWork closely with the operations team on water sourcing and disposalCollaborate with Land Administration to establish and maintain the tracking, reporting, and administration of all surface-related agreements
*EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL: *
*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 6+ years of in-house oil & gas experience as a practicing Surface Landman
RPL or CPL certification preferred
Excellent negotiating and project management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be a team player that possesses the ability to adapt to a changing and fast-paced work environment
Ability and desire to work within a small, nimble, and multidisciplinary team
High degree of organization and efficiency with demonstrated attention to detail
Established proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel and Word
Familiar with all specialties of a Land Department
Ability to work with and keep confidential, sensitive information
*COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: *
Anticipated Salary Range: $130,000 – $165,000 plus Bonus*401K Match 8% fully vested – Employer paid health insurance – Close knit Land team and opportunity to take ownership and be key representative for the client for all surface land matters for the company!
